Jameson and Brent were Married on October 29, 2022 and it was a fairytale wedding. We first met with Jameson and her mother, Kelly in April of 2022. They were so excited to start planning Jameson’s wedding. They first thought that they wanted to have the wedding in Jameson’s parents back yard. They live on a canal off of the Trent river and it would have made a lovely setting for a wedding, but there were a lot of factors to think about, such as parking, a flat space to set up the ceremony and a multitude of other issues. We suggested that they look at Tryon Palace. The French Bee is a dedicated planner for the palace and we knew that the South Lawn would solve a lot of their problems. It did! The wide expanse of lawn behind Tryon Palace with view looking over the river was the perfect answer.
Where will the ceremony be?
Jameson and Brent really felt like they wanted to have a church wedding. So we reached out to First Baptist Church on Middle Street in New Bern, which is walking distance from the reception spot.
We now had the church and the venue, let the planning begin.
We struggled a bit with the date. The couple had so many different friends that were getting married, that a lot of their weekends were already spoken for. October 29, 2022 was chosen. Jameson knew exactly what she didn’t want but needed to explore what she did want. She didn’t want: Anything BOHO, or any dusty muted colors. She knew she loved Belles of Ireland and their green color. She knew she liked sailcloth tents. That is how we started!
Throughout the following months, we started nailing down the vendors that we though would best serve this couple. We knew @Pamela Jhanke Photography would do a stellar job, which she obviously did, evidence of the pictures you see on this page. We also wanted Allison Thomas of Scarborough Faire as her caterer. It was a perfect match. Her menu was unique and delicious. Starting out with champagne in couples with edible flowers with passed Blue Cheese & Walnut Shortbread, Whipped Cream Cheese, Pear-Fig Jam and Microgreen Coconut Shrimp, Orange-Horseradish Dipping Sauce. The cocktail hour took place in Latham Garden with guitarist Joseph Star playing
The Grand introduction was in the tent with Sleeping Booty as Band. The first dances were completed, the stations were opened and everyone was prepared to have a great time. There were three stations of different food to choose from
Cilantro Lime Chicken
Cilantro Lime Rice, Seasoned Black Beans, Peppered Cabbage, Pickled Onions, Mandolined Radish, Cotija, Avocado Crema, Guacamole, Cilantro, Salsa
Flour Tortillas
Guinness Braised Short Rib, Red Skin Gouda Mashed Potato
Ramekin Style with Herb Gremolata & Tempura Okra
Butternut Squash Ravioli, Browned Butter, Fresh Sage, Walnuts, Cranberries, Parmesan
Orange & Gorgonzola Salad
Mixed Greens, Golden Raisins, Shallots, Candied Pecans, Maple Cider Vinaigrette
And Late night pork sliders with expresso martinis
The sailcloth Tent was a hit. It was 97x56 and we added clear sides due to it being a bit chilly that evening. We had heaters if necessary, but due to the amount of people, it stayed warm and cozy. The couple had purchased fun party props, tri-cornered hats and bonnets giving the history of Tryon Palace a nod.
It truly was a beautiful and fun wedding. Hopefully we will be able to be a part of other couples special day. We are thrilled and honored to become planners, friends, confidants, and sometimes counselors for our couples.
We wish Jameson and Brent happily ever after!
